Tours of the General Assembly Hall and the Security Council Chamber are available in 20 languages. Also of interest are artifacts and works of art donated by member nations and friends of the UN. The UN Building is probably one of the most visited buildings in New York.

Foucault Pendulum
The Netherlands donated a giant swinging Foucault Pendulum The gold plated sphere swings back and forth and appears to change direction throughout the day in illustration of the rotation of the earth.

Ivory Trestle Train Carving
Donated to the United Nations building by the People's Republic of China, this carving from the tusks of eight elephants depicts a trestle train. Famous for its intricacy and incredible attention to detail, it took nearly 100 artists two years to carve.

 Peace Bell
From the people of Japan came a bell cast using the metal from coins collected from children of some 60 different nations. Named the Peace Bell, it is mounted in a building designed to look like a Shinto shrine. The Peace Bell is rung every September to mark the commencement of the General Assembly's annual session.

The Golden Rule
A mosaic based on Norman Rockwell's painting, "The Golden Rule shows people of many different cultures with the inscription: "Do unto Others as You Would Have Them Do unto You".
